In California, child support is based on State Guidelines, which factors in the incomes of each parent as well as the amount of time the child spends with each parent.

Child support also includes:

  • Health insurance coverage for your child or children,
  • Uncovered medical or dental expenses, including reimbursement for these expenses,
  • As well as child care expenses.

When resolving issues of child support, you want counsel from an experienced attorney who can guide you through the process, while protecting your interests. Whether you are paying or receiving support, you want the order to be fair and to consider all relevant factors properly. You want a lawyer who understands the support laws, who can ensure that all relevant information is considered so the outcome is favorable to you, who will help you identify your options, so that you make informed decisions that protect your interests.

Having an experienced and knowledgeable attorney, one who handles child support issues on a daily basis, can make a significant difference.

Our law firm handles child support issues at all stages. Whether as part of a divorce/dissolution of marriage, parentage action, Department of Child Support Services matter or other type of proceeding. From pendente lite orders to establish temporary support to requests for modification of existing support orders, we can assist you.

At the Law Offices of Linda J. Claypool, we can help you with your disputes involving child support or spousal support. Contact our office via e-mail, or call us or locally at 951-787-8700 to schedule a free initial consultation.

NOTE to Payers of Support:

If your child support obligation has become unmanageable because of the current economic situation, we can help you seek an adjustment. It's critical that you not delay in seeking help. Please know that until the Court reduces your support order, the higher amount will continue to accrue and you will be obligated to pay it. So even if you're not paying the support, you need to realize that it's owed and the orders need to be changed to fix that. Otherwise, you risk being found in contempt, jail time, loss of your driver's license, tax refunds being seized and more.

NOTE to Those Receiving Support:

If you've lost your job or your income has gone down during this difficult economic time, you may be able to increase the amount of support you're currently receiving. Please contact our office to arrange a consultation so that we can give you a better idea of what you're entitled to. If you're having financial difficulties, this affects not only you, but also your children. If support needs to be adjusted, we can help.

To set up a complimentary free consultation , contact us via e-mail, or call us or locally at 951-787-8700. Our office is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
